Cover Reveal: A Time to Rise

Look at that cover! Oh. My. Word.

When Nadine Brandes asked her totally awesome readers if they wanted to be a part of her cover reveal, I nearly tore down my baby gate to get to my computer.

I mean, I had to be a part of this reveal. Had to.

Look at it next to the other two books in the Out of Time Series. Drooooooooool. I’m a sucker for a good cover.

Want to know a little more about A Time to Rise?

Back Cover:

What more can you sacrifice than your life?

Parvin Blackwater is dead.

At least…that’s what the Council—and the world—thinks. But her sacrifice tore down part of the Wall long enough to stir up hope and rebellion in the people. Now she will rise again. Strong, free, and fearless.

Parvin and Solomon must uncover the mysterious clues that Jude left behind in order to destroy the projected Wall once and for all. Meanwhile, the Council schemes to new levels of technology in its attempts to keep the people contained. Can a one-handed Radical and a scarred ex-Enforcer really bring shalom to the world?

Doesn’t that sound thrilling? Add A Time to Rise to your Goodreads shelf! Do it! ;)

This book releases October 14, 2016 (Why do I have to wait that long? WHY?) and I will be the first one to preorder this lovely.

Guess I’m just going to have to stare at this countdown thingy for forever.

Is it moving faster yet?

Can’t wait to read and review this book! :)

In Him,

P.S. Don’t forget to follow Nadine Brandes on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. She is probably the most fun author I’ve ever followed in my life! She’s hilarious and witty and totally rocks. So excited to be a part of her reveal!

Review of Rebirth by Amy Brock McNew

When I first read Rebirth, I was one of Amy’s beta readers. I begged her for a copy of the book I’d heard so much about–pretty much stalking her until she gave in and said yes–because it sounded amazing.

Well guess what? It was even better than I’d hoped.

And now not only is Amy Brock McNew‘s award-winning book being published, she is also my publishing sister! (For those who don’t know what that means–her book is being publishing by the same company publishing my books.) Hurray!

So today I get to be a part of her blog tour as her debut novel launches into the world in just a few short days.

But, first things first, here is the back cover copy:

Liz Brantley has a gift she wants to return.

Able to see and fight demonic forces, she has spent her life alone, battling the minions of hell bent on her destruction, running from the God who gave her this curse. Drawn to her abilities, the demon Markus unleashes havoc on her hometown and pulls Liz further into the throes of battle.

She’s desperate for a normal life.

When she meets a mysterious man who seems unaware of the mystical realm that haunts her, the life she’s always wanted moves within reach. But her slice of normal slips from her grasp when an old flame, Ryland Vaughn, reappears with secrets of his own. Secrets that will alter her destiny.

Torn between two worlds, Liz is caught in an ancient war between good and evil.

And she isn’t sure which side to choose.

Amy’s characters are gritty, real. Alive. Her writing is intense and draws you immediately into Liz’s world–a world filled with heartbreak, survival, and the slaughtering of demons.

I was hooked. Still am.

This urban fantasy with a touch of romance exceeded my expectations and instantly made me hunger for the next book in the series. (Come on, book two…)

And I hear she’s giving away some pretty awesome prizes at her Facebook Launch Party, including a few signed copies of Rebirth. Check it out here! (I also happen to be hosting it for her. I cannot wait!!!) :D

And don’t forget to check out tomorrow’s blog stop at Jennette Mbewe’s website for an interview with the author herself!

Way to go, Amy! I’m so excited for you! Your book is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!!

In Him,

Btw, Chicago’s Book Expo America 2016 was incredible. I’m so thankful they brought it to Chicago instead of New York for the first time in years so I could go! Next week, I’ll tell you more, but for now, preorder a copy of Rebirth and see why everyone who reads it loves it! So in love with this book, you guys. Until next week! :)

Review of Sinking by Sarah Armstrong-Garner

I’m so excited to be a part of Sinking’s blog tour!

I’m going to tell you all about the book in a moment, but first I’ve got to tell you why I love Sinking so much.

I was one of the first people to read it.

Ages ago (I don’t even remember how many years. Three? Five?) my friend and I each had a secret. We’d both written a book! (And I think we were both scared to let anyone else read it.) So we exchanged our manuscripts and promised to tell each other the absolute truth–what we thought of each other’s books. Sarah read Zombie Takeover; I read Sinking.

And I fell in love.

Sarah’s characters were so rich, so full of life, I could not put the book down. And the tale she weaves was so gripping, I read the thing in a night. So. Freaking. Good.

Sarah spent the next three to five years seeking publication with the same, tried and true response. “We like your story; it’s just not right for our publishing house.”

(I am so familiar with these words.)

But I couldn’t get over how much I loved her book. She had to get it published!

Enter L2L2 Publishing.

They published my book–shouldn’t they publish Sarah’s as well?

Um, yes. And they did. And now I get to gush all over the place about Sarah’s amazing book!

Here is the back cover copy:

Jocelyn washes up on the shore of eighteenth century Ireland, alone, naked, and missing all of her memories. Taken in by a lonely old woman full of plots and schemes for the lovely yet enigmatic creature, Jocelyn knows only one thing. She longs for the sea with every ounce of her being. Yet it tried to kill her.

Aidan Boyd loves two things. His ship and the sea. When Jocelyn is thrust upon his vessel in the midst of his superstitious crew, he finds himself intoxicated by her—willing to give up everything for her. He soon finds he cannot live without her.

But something holds Jocelyn back. The whisper of another’s love. The embrace of water. Does she belong to this world? Or could Jocelyn possibly be from the sea?

Doesn’t that make you want to snuggle up with a warm blanket, hot chocolate, and this amazing book?

Check out Sarah’s website, her Facebook or Twitter, and her listings on Amazon and Barnes & Noble!

(Btw, her eBook has a special pre-order price of $2.99; it goes up to $4.99 the day after her Facebook Launch Party! Don’t miss the special pre-order price!)

Don’t forget to check out the rest of her blog tour stops, beginning with Archaeolibrarian tomorrow. They have an awesome interview with the author herself. I can’t wait to read it!

Happy Reading!

Storming by K.M. Weiland

I tend to only review novels I enjoy for a reason.

One, I want to share with you my absolute faves.

Two, why be negative? Why waste your time talking about something I don’t like? I want to share the best of the best!

And three, there is nothing better in the world than a good book.

Enter Storming by K.M. Weiland.

I have savored every word of this book. Every glorious, thrilling word.

And I have a confession to make. I had never before read a novel by K.M. Weiland, and this is her fourth full-length work of fiction.

(Hides face in shame)

I am a HUGE fan of her writerly books, Outlining Your Novel and Structuring Your Novel (and their corresponding workbooks), but I have been too scared to read any of her other books.

K.M. Weiland is a genius. Her website, Helping Writers Become Authors, has changed my life and the way I write.

What if my faith in her was completely crushed because–gasp!–I didn’t like her novel???

(Holds breath while reading entire novel)

Let’s just say, my fears were childish, crazy, and just plain wrong.

Storming may have been the best book I’ve read this year.

When K.M. Weiland contacted me and asked me to review Storming, I danced around my house like a crazy person and told my husband just shy of a million times that she had contacted me. ME.

I had no idea what to expect.

Would she follow her own outlining and structuring advice? Would it make for a good book? Could she write?

Okay, I knew the girl could write (just read a few articles on her website), but could she write fiction?

Um, yes.

Absolutely, unequivocally, yes.

If you like dieselpunk adventure novels, then this is for you.

Don’t know what dieselpunk is? I didn’t either! Check it out; it is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.

In fact, here is the back cover copy just to prove it:

In the high-flying, heady world of 1920s aviation, brash pilot Robert “Hitch” Hitchcock’s life does a barrel roll when a young woman in an old-fashioned ball gown falls from the clouds smack in front of his biplane. As fearless as she is peculiar, Jael immediately proves she’s game for just about anything, including wing-walking in his struggling airshow. In return for her help, she demands a ride back home . . . to the sky.

Hitch thinks she’s nuts—until he steers his plane into the midst of a bizarre storm and nearly crashes into a strange airship like none he’s ever run afoul of, an airship with the power to control the weather. Caught between a corrupt sheriff and dangerous new enemies from above, Hitch must take his last chance to gain forgiveness from his estranged family, deliver Jael safely home before she flies off with his freewheeling heart, and save his Nebraska hometown from storm-wielding sky pirates.

Cocky, funny, and full of heart, Storming is a jaunty historical/dieselpunk mash-up that combines rip-roaring adventure and small-town charm with the thrill of futuristic possibilities.

Just reading that again makes me want to snatch up the book and read it again.

Hey, that’s not a bad idea…

(Searches for Kindle, then remembers to finish blog post)

There was never a dull moment. Every word mattered.

Every. Single. Word.

K.M. Weiland is a master storyteller. I was hooked throughout the entire tale.

Now I need to read the rest of her books.

And you need to read Storming.

Why are you still reading this review?

Go buy it!!! :)

A Reluctant Assassin by JC Morrows

A Reluctant Assassin.

This book is just like Cinderella. There’s a ball, the ladies of the land vie for the prince’s attention, there is music and dancing and romance, Cinderella is sent to kill the prince…

Wait, what?

Okay, maybe it’s not exactly like Cinderella…

I first saw the cover of this book on Goodreads, where the author was hosting a giveaway for her soon-to-be-released book, A Reluctant Assassin.

Come on. You know how I feel about covers.

I immediately entered the giveaway–based on the cover alone–and WON. (I know! That almost never happens!)

Then I read what the book was about. (I do things backward, I know.) ;)

Her mission was simple—get close to the Prince, and kill him…

Kayden entered the palace under a lie, one designed to get her close to the Prince. On the outside, she may look like a princess, but beneath the mask, a killer lies in wait—for the perfect moment.

Dvarius was not ready to take the crown, nor was he ready for a wife… But due to his father’s unexpected death and an archaic law—he must find a bride before he is allowed to take his rightful place on the throne.

And the one woman he wants—just might be there to kill him…

How cool is that?

This book was so good I instantly knew I wanted to share my find with all of you.

I was hooked for the entirety of the book and was crazy upset when it ended.

I need book two. Right now.

(Look at that gorgeous red hair!)

But…since it’s not out yet…I comforted myself with hot chocolate and reading A Reluctant Assassin again.

It was that good.

What do you think of it?

Happy reading!

In Him,

P.S. Wanna know a little more about the author? Or perhaps when her next book releases? Follow JC Morrow’s Facebook page or peruse her website to learn more. God bless!
