Kill the Beast News!

Hello, dearest readers! Wow, it’s been forever and a day since I’ve updated you with any news about my own writing.

Let’s remedy that. ;)

Today, I shall spew forth facts about the best Beauty and the Beast retelling in the entire world (I may be slightly biased here…), Kill the Beast, and yes, it’s still coming soon!

I have been writing and rewriting this things for years now. Years. (We just won’t say how many, cause it’s embarrassing.)

But my huntress, Ro, has been quite stubborn in revealing her secrets of how she hunts the beast and her purpose in his life and her own. (I would have to write a stubborn character, wouldn’t I?)

You know, all the important things that make a book worth reading.

If you write, or draw, or create in any way, do you know how you can be just standing there, doing nothing of consequence, unaware, and an idea strikes you like a bolt of lightning?

And then your fingers fly across the page or keyboard and before you know it, you’ve written over 14,000 words and untangled the mess you were in?

No? Just me?

Thank God it finally happened!

Ro has finally found her way out of the dark and into the story of my dreams. Hurray!

And I just may have written a prequel novella, Beast Hunter, to help her get out of the mess I’d written her into. This is partially published in Hodgepodge, but now there is much, much more!

But back to Kill the Beast.

Roughly 90,000 words, this book is now looking at a 2018 release date, after my glorious editors have torn it to shreds, I’ve cried, then rewritten it. Again. (We won’t mention the 2016 release date, or the 2017 release date either…)

So the good news is, this book just may come out in my lifetime!

So what do I need from you?

All the prayers in the entire world!

I’ve never struggled with a story so much, and I’ve never questioned myself more as an author. I know I can do this, with God’s help, but I need to find the time, the determination, and the stubbornness (thank you, Ro) to persevere and make this story happen.

Thank you for listening to this author rant! I shall see you on the other side, with a lovely new book in my hands and yours!

In Him,

Michele

Five Poisoned Apples Cover Reveal

Oh my goodness, I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to be a part of the Five Poisoned Apples cover reveal! I love these fairy tale retellings so much!

To refresh your memory, first there was Five Glass Slippers.

Then Five Enchanted Roses (for which I began writing Kill the Beast but didn’t finish in time to submit. I’m sensing a pattern with this particular story…)

Then Five Magic Spindles.

Happy sigh.

Aren’t the covers gorgeous?

Well now you get to see Five Poisoned Apples.

.

.

.

Wait for it…

.

.

.

It’s coming…

.

.

.

It may be my favorite of them all…

Ta-da! Isn’t that perfection? Sigh. So gorgeous… (insert sappy, starry-eyed emoticon here)

So now the nitty-gritty details.

This is a contest.

It begins today.

Open to all authors anywhere.

Snow White themed.

Any genre whatsoever.

(Are you catching my excitement yet?)

In other words, you can write up a delicious story, submit it to this contest, and quite possibly be published in this gorgeous fairy tale-retelling collection.

In other words, WHY ARE WE BOTH NOT WRITING YET??? Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!

(Yes, I used all caps. Yes, I shouted. Yes, I used too many punctuation marks.)

But what are you waiting for? Check out the details and get to writing!

I’ll be cheering you on the whole way.

In Him,

Michele

Book Signing, Hodgepodge, and Kill the Beast

Let me tell ya, book signings never get old. Ever.

This past Monday, I had the privilege of attending my writer’s group’s Christmas party and book signing event. It was lovely!

Most of the other writers included in the anthology were there, as well as several others who came to fellowship and have their copy of Hodgepodge signed.

The signing took place in Janey Bowman’s trophy room, and we all are excited about future signings at our local libraries and bookstores. We’re just waiting on a few confirmations to announce them!

The anthology, Hodgepodge: An Anthology by the Heartland Christian Writers, includes a prequel story to Kill the Beast, my Beauty and the Beast retelling scheduled to release in March from L2L2 Publishing. It’s called “Beast Hunter,” and it introduces Rosette and how she became a hunter of magical beasts.

It would make a great Christmas present!

(Get a copy of Hodgepodge for yourself or your loved ones here!)

Kill the Beast then takes Ro on her most perilous assignment: hunting a beast who has captured and holds prisoner the kingdom’s prince. She has been hired to end the beast that holds her kingdom under a curse, but she finds herself prisoner alongside the beast and has to face an enemy even worse than she feared possible.

I’m so excited about it! I hope you love it as much as I do!

And I cannot wait to place these two beauties side by side. Sigh.

I hope your Christmas is absolutely magical, and your New Years finds next year even better than the last. I pray God’s richest blessings on you, above anything you can ask or even think!

In Him,

Michele

Cover Reveal for Kill the Beast

Kill the Beast: Book One of the Beast Hunters

Ro remembers the castle before. Before the gates closed. Before silence overtook the kingdom. Before the castle disappeared. Now it shimmers to life one night a year, seen by her alone.

Once a lady, now a huntress, Ro does what it takes to survive—just like the rest of the kingdom plunged into despair never before known.

But a beast has overtaken the castle. A beast that killed the prince and holds the castle and kingdom captive in his cruel power. A beast Ro has been hired to kill.

Thankful the mystery of the prince’s disappearance has been solved, furious the magical creature has killed her hero, Ro eagerly accepts the job to end him.

But things are not as they seem.

Trapped in the castle, a prisoner alongside the beast, Ro wonders what she should fear most: the beast, the magic that holds them both captive, or the one who hired her to kill the beast.

A Beauty and the Beast retelling.

Isn’t that incredible? Ahh! I’m screaming over here!

I cannot wait until you are able to read my brand-new story.

Thank you so much for sharing this fantastic day with me!

In Him,

Michele

Michele Israel Harper is an addict. To books, to writing—if it includes ink and paper, she’s all over it. When she discovered she could write books instead of simply read them…well, let’s just say she’s rarely been seen outside of her office since. She adores leading her writers’ group, the Heartland Christian Writers, and has no idea what she would do without the American Christian Fiction Writers. Being voted treasurer for her local Indiana Chapter of ACFW just about sent her into a happy coma. Which, you know, she’s very much familiar with since that happens at the end of every good book she reads.

Author of Wisdom & Folly: Sisters, Zombie Takeover, and the soon-to-be-released Kill the Beast, Michele prays her involvement in writing, editing, and publishing will touch many lives in the years to come.
